In spite of the fact that Alfa Romeo trust McLaren, Alpine and AlphaTauri are their primary opponents, Xevi Pujolar is partaking in a periodic battle with Mercedes.
Until this season, Mercedes have been significantly further up the street from Alfa Romeo, the Brackley crew battling for World titles while Alfa Romeo have been in a fight to keep away from last spot.
This year, it is a totally different story.
The all-new vehicles have helped Alfa Romeo to the front of the midfield, while Mercedes have tumbled to the rear of the leaders such a lot of that Valtteri Bottas has ended up hustling against his previous group for position.

"Yet, clearly assuming Mercedes were on track, to the extent that we can monitor these other three contenders and don't uncover ourselves against them, we are glad to battle Mercedes on top of that too for this race.
"For the title, it is an alternate story. For the title, our rivals right now are who I said.
"We are taking a gander at Alpine, AlphaTauri and McLaren. These folks are still on a sensible, practical objective."
Alfa Romeo are P5 in the Constructors' Championship with 31 places, 15 behind McLaren and five in front of Alpine. Mercedes are a desolate third, 49 focuses in front of McLaren and 56 behind Red Bull.
Pujolar says arriving where they can battle Mercedes consistently is, obviously, the major objective for Alfa Romeo this season.
"That is our point and we will attempt it," he said.
"Without a doubt now everybody will bring updates and I can say we are in a more agreeable position since we enjoy a benefit to them. Presently it will be who brings the more effective or greater updates.
"At a certain point, most likely it will be troublesome. You can expect groups like Mercedes and McLaren will do greater advances. We need to see.
"However, toward the day's end, we have the financial plan cap too.
"It's no different for everybody, so we should see who can be more effective. Yet, there are additionally different variables that can play into that with the financial plan cap and different things that can happen that can cost you some financial plan also."
